I’ve always known that I am the love of my life. The wounding concern has always been the pain associated with how other people who are seeking love outside of themselves react to my knowing that I am rightfully the love of my life and that I love them as I love myself, and refuse to fear them or follow them just because they say to.
I’ve moved through the very painful experience of refusing to play small—not to be grandiose—but to be my full self without feeling shame for the imperfection and the dependence that is inherent to any learning curve.
Grounding me throughout this has been the awareness that as a full person I am a part of the collective as both a teacher and a learner. As a teacher I bring resources, expertise, skill, wisdom, knowledge, passion, and purpose. As a learner I have needs, dependence, and room to receive the resources, lessons and ideas that others bring as my teachers who also have expertise, skill, wisdom, knowledge, passion, and purpose.
Therefore as the love of my life I don’t need another person to complete me. It is however a wonderful thing to be in close relationship with others who value both the teacher and learner in me as I equally value the teacher and learner in them too.
The idea of being slave to submission is absolutely repugnant. And so I’ll wait until I can be in partnership with someone who has no need to be dominant, but who honours equality, wholeness, interdependence, and imperfection as the way.
In the meantime here I am learning to shed the shame which is a part of the virus of dominance that infected the wholeness of being teacher and learner as we were all born to be. And I am also learning to shed the fear that some other will inevitably try to dominate me. Experience has taught me that as Baba, Source of all, is with me I can rise from any attempt at subordination to regain my rightful place as my autonomous interdependent self.
